Spray can art has established itself as a firm element of youth culture for over 20 years now and continues to influence the younger generations upwards through to design and advertising students. Spray can art gives young people the chance to experiment with art in a way that is fresh and exciting to them but which is not as daunting a task as asking them, for example, sit and draw a still life.
Young people learn how to develop color perception, and experiment with different textures to paint onto and improve their spatial awareness. This also has an effect on the way they begin to respect their surroundings if they have taken part in the project.
Previous projects covered by Monster include the covering up of vandalized walls with colorful murals designed and created by the groups involved. By encouraging young people to get involved with spray can art the projects have opened up various new avenues and job prospects individuals had not yet believed they could ever accomplish through the classroom, ie. graphic design, fine art, stage/set design etc.
Monstercolors have many years experience helping and supporting independent and local council community projects and art initiatives throughout the length and breadth of the country. Some of these include: Impact Arts, Project 11:92, Urban styles and many local councils throughout the UK holding classes and supplying art materials to classes that show and teach young people the social and creative benefits of aerosol art when conducted responsibly under supervision.
If you are a local council or a independent art workshop group that are organising legal aerosol art class and events Monstercolors can help you with raising your purchase orders, supply you with the necessary paperwork you will need (safety data sheets etc) to make it a great and enjoyable experience for the youth group - or even if its just to help you pick your colors and the paint quantities that you will need to fit the allotted space or class.
If you require any further information Monstercolors will be more that happy to help and advise you in any way we possibly can, just email your questions to info@monstercolors.com |
