The definitive palette for heritage rail. Our Heritage Enamel collection is a professional range of historically accurate liveries covering the GWR, LNER, SR, LMS, and BR eras, through to modern corporate and bus liveries.

Developed in collaboration with rail enthusiasts and industry experts, these high-pigment industrial enamels are engineered for maximum fidelity. This professional-grade formula offers superior body and adhesion, making it the definitive choice for both delicate scale models and larger-scale heritage restorations.

Key Features:

  • Gloss & Matt Versatility: Most colours are available in your choice of finish to suit specific prototype requirements.

  • Authentic Railmatch Tones: Precision-matched pigments for GWR Greens, LMS Crimsons, and BR Standard shades.

  • Multi-Surface Adhesion: Provides a durable, hard-wearing bond on metal, diecast, resin, plastic, and wood.

  • Specialist Finishing: Includes dedicated Matt Rust and Concrete shades, alongside clear Matt, Satin, and Gloss lacquers for weathering and protection.

  • Professional Fan Spray: Every 400ml aerosol features a unique fan-spray actuator, delivering the smooth, wide-mist finish of a professional spray gun.

Important Heat Information:

  • Standard Enamels: Perfect for cabs, tenders, frames, and rolling stock. These are not high-temperature paints and should not be used on boilers.

  • Smokebox Black: Our specialist High-Heat (VHT) Matt paint is specifically engineered for smokeboxes and hot surfaces on live steam models.

Surface Preparation: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and degreased. For best results on metal, diecast, or resin, lightly abrade with fine-grit sandpaper and apply a suitable primer.

Shake Well: Shake the can vigorously for at least 2 minutes after the mixing ball begins to rattle.

Testing: Always perform a test spray on a scrap piece to verify colour accuracy and finish (Gloss/Matt).

Application: Hold the can 20–25cm from the surface. Use the integrated fan nozzle to apply light, even coats. Two thin coats are always better than one heavy coat.

Drying Time: Touch dry in 15–30 minutes. Allow 24 hours for a full industrial cure before heavy handling.

Important: After use, invert the can and spray for a few seconds to clear the nozzle and prevent clogging.

Note: Standard enamels are for bodywork and rolling stock. For smokeboxes or live steam boilers, use our VHT Smokebox Black.
